The Ultimate Dairy Free Strawberry Banana Smoothie

Apr 19, 2010 · 5 Comments

This is so simple to make, and amazingly, very delicious for being sugar free. My girls LOVE this! I think you’ll be surprised. Rice milk and bananas are plenty sweet on their own. This is my go-to recipe when I can’t figure out what to eat, or for when I have a sweet tooth for ice cream. I always have a big bag of frozen strawberries in my freezer.

Those of you trying to incorporate more flax in your diet could easily sneak some into this recipe.

¾ cup unsweetened rice milk
5 or 6 medium to large frozen strawberries
½ a ripe banana

Defrost (use the defrost setting) the frozen strawberries in your microwave, only to the point where they can easily be pierced by a fork, but are still frozen. You just want them soft enough to not ruin your blender blades. Put all the ingredients in your blender and blend until smooth. Add more rice milk to adjust the consistency if needed.

I hope you enjoy this one as much as I do!
Megan

I started using Rice Dream when Abby was little and having issues w/ me consuming any cow's milk dairy while nursing. She has since outgrown that and drinks regular whole milk but I've grown addicted to the Rice Dream Vanilla. So yummy 🙂 I prefer it over regular milk now in my cereal and to drink.

hi megan! thank for creating such a powerful website. i like how you are using your experience to empower others. i was diagnosed with psoriasis in 2004 and was able to get it into remission with diet and meditation. then in 2009, i had three knee surgeries and the stress from that made my psoriasis to come back. then a week ago, i was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis.now, i need to go back on my diet. it has been awhile, so i have to research and see what i can't have. i do remember that the bigger triggers were caffeine, alcohol, fried foods, and junk food.now, i have a question: is it ok to eat the following:1. popcorn (it has olive oil and salt)2. nuts 3. strawberriesthanks!Bum*ble*Knee aka Cathywww.bumbleknee.wordpress.com

Hi Cathy (ngobody),I'm so sorry about your diagnosis. 🙁 What a bummer!! I honestly don't know if you can have strawberries or not. Specific food triggers can be different from person to person. I currently do eat strawberries, but I do not eat corn (popcorn included) or peanuts. Although my diet may change soon. I had an allergy test done about a week ago (testing for 96 different food allergies) and am waiting for the test results to come back. Depending on the results of that test, what I am currently eating may change. I suggest scheduling an appt with an ND and getting their professional advice regarding your diet. They also may decide to do allergy testing on you too.I would love to keep in touch with you and compare notes. Feel free to email me directly at [email protected]. 🙂 Megan
