A cookbook review of Nourishing Meals… and a giveaway!

A few weeks ago I got an email from Ali Segersten of Whole Life Nutrition asking if I’d be interested in reviewing her and her husband, Tom Malterre’s, new cookbook, “Nourishing Meals.”  Like a giddy school girl I hastily responded with a resounding “YES!” I’ve been an avid fan of Ali and Tom’s since I first started my journey of becoming gluten and dairy free (among other things). Their website, The Whole Life Nutrition Kitchen, has been a huge help to me over the years. The first recipe I remember trying was their Gluten Free Chocolate Brownie Cupcakes with Chocolate Ganache Frosting… and they were heavenly (and vegan!).

Ali and Tom are widely known for their combined knowledge of nutrition and ability to create healthy and wholesome meals for the entire family (and by the way, they are parents to 5 children… yes I said 5!).

“Nourishing Meals” is not Ali and Tom’s only cookbook, they also are the authors of “The Whole Life Nutrition Cookbook.”

Please know, Ali and Tom did provide me with a copy of their cookbook to review, and also provided me with the copies for this giveaway, but the opinions expressed here are solely my own.

When I first opened up my copy of “Nourishing Meals,” my initial reaction was, “Holy cow, Tom and Ali are rock stars!”  This cookbook is packed with useful information, including why you should eat whole foods, why allergies and food sensitivities are on the rise, tips on raising healthy kids, how to pack healthy school lunches, etc… Phew! Not to mention the over 300 recipes. I immediately started marking recipes to try. I really appreciate that the recipes in this cookbook are well rounded – from vegan to grain free to being packed full of fresh ingredients. There is something for everyone in this book. It is gluten free, dairy free, and soy free (and though the cover of the cookbook doesn’t mention it, I think all of the recipes are also refined sugar free).

My true opinion? Let me put it this way, I own a good amount of gluten free cookbooks, and although they include some great information and recipes, I had yet to make that personal connection to a book that has earned it one of the highest spots in my kitchen… off the shelf and onto my counter. “Nourishing Meals” has earned a well deserved spot on my kitchen counter. I am notorious for not being able to follow a recipe (because I always have to try to make it better or make a substitution for something because of my own dietary restrictions). Ali is a genius. Her recipes are healthy, inventive, family friendly, and most importantly… they always work. I am grateful for all of the hard work Tom and Ali put into this beautiful book!

Last night our dinner consisted of 2 recipes from “Nourishing Meals,” which included the Zucchini Almond Bake (page 251) and the Grain (and egg) Free Chicken Nuggets (page 331). Both were huge hits, but especially the chicken nuggets. My 3 year old looked at me and said, “Mommy, these are soooo good!”

My 7 year old said:
Kylie: “Mommy, I just love your recipe for that chicken.”
Me: “It actually isn’t my recipe, babe.”
Kylie: “Well, then whose is it?”
Me: “It belongs to the lady who wrote the new cookbook I just got in the mail.”
Kylie: “Well, next time you talk to her, will you please tell her I said thank you and that I really like her recipe?”

I am looking forward to breaking in this cookbook, staining the pages, and using it for many years to come. I am so happy (and incredibly grateful) to finally have a cookbook on my kitchen counter!

This giveaway is now closed.

You always have the most awesome stuff going on over here! I’ve liked you on Facebook for a whole (of course!) but just like Whole Life too. :)

  2. Ashley Weaver says

Last but not least, I would love this cookbook for my own use! I am working on expanding my recipe collection and love grain free and inventive recipes.

  3. Caroline says

I’ve liked you both on facebook (Mrs. Tempered Sunshine). I would love this for my gluten free boys! I shared your facebook status!

  4. Jessica says

I think that Gluten-free Girl and Whole Life Nutrition are the very first websites I found when I was diagnosed with gluten sensitivity (and dairy and then refined sugar). Their website has wonderful resources tailored exactly to how I eat, which is very hard to find. Lots of recipes can be converted to gluten-free but the fact that they emphasize no dairy and no refined sugar has been such a huge help to me.

I ordered a copy of this book for the library where I work (I’m in charge of the section cookbooks are in) but I would absolutely love a copy for my own collection. Thank you!

PS I see that I accidentally said Whole Foods Nutrition instead of Whole Life in my comment above. Oops!

I work as a cook at a christian camp where we serve between 50 to 1,000 campers. Depending on what time of the year it is, we get lots of request for special diets. We order special food that comes prepackaged. I would love to be able to have a cookbook that has a variety of recipes that can be cooked from scratch. “Nourishing Meals” recipes would certainly compliment what we could offer our campers. I have “Liked” and “Shared” your facebook page! Thank you and God Bless your work!

  6. Angie Lockard says

Hi Megan! I would love to have a good cookbook on hand, and if you like this one then it must be the one for me! :-) (And of course, what would be better than winning a good cookbook?!?) Would love to incorporate some new things into our dinner menus! Like you both and love following you on facebook. Thanks for all the help and fantastic recipes over this past year or so. Thank goodness I can still follow you from Virginia! :)

Would LOVE a copy of this cookbook to help me
put healthy meals on the table.

I laughed when I read that you were looking forward to staining your copy of this book as my copy of Ali and Tom’s first cook book is… shall we say… looking very well loved. I can’t wait to try this one out!

  9. Valerie says

I would LOVE to win a copy of this cookbook! I’m the proud owner of their first book and after 4 years of scrounging to create recipes and find ones that didn’t work well, it was the answer to a prayer! My 4 year old son has a very rare genetic disorder that causes him to be on an extremely restricted diet and have many multiple food sensativities (his pancreas doesn’t function properly)….he can eat almost everything in her first book! I’ve already liked Whole Life Nutrition for a while now, and will add yours to my list of “likes”!!

Shared & Liked! I am a Naturopathic Doctor, and I own their first book. I advocate their book to many of my clients, not only with food allergies, but in general for healthy recipes for healthy bodies and lives. I’m excited about their 2nd book, but I’m hesitant to order it online, hoping the info (not the recipes) will be similar to their previous book. I’m a junkie for recipe books, especially when the authors are health nuts, as am I!! I am a bit of a groupie of the author, as he works for one of my favourite supplement companies. So I believe every morsel of information he has to say. I love receiving books in the mail! I’d LOVE a couple!! And then make all of my other ND friends jealous!

  14. Denise says

I shared, liked and LOVE the first cookbook!!! I would love to have this cookbook because I have used the first one SO much it is falling apart – LOL! I will and can still use it, but the more of these great recipes the better! I look forward to your posts on facebook, now that I have ‘liked’ you!

My daughter has been diagnosed allergic to gluten/dairy/soy/food dyes/rice/egg yolks/peanuts/goats milk. Wow!! I am always looking for ANY ideas on what to feed my kids. I have 6 children and we have all adapted to her diet. (So far 2 of my other children have tested positive for allergies, just not as many.) She has gone from a non-functioning stomach/intestines and multiple other issues to competing in her first triathlon within a year!! The changes I have seen in her have been almost unimaginable!! I haven’t purchased any cookbooks yet because I have not see one that looks easy to convert to our needs, but this one really stood out as being one I could use for family meals and also adapt to our limited diet. I would love to receive a copy of this cookbook to help us find additional meals for our large family with a crazy busy life!!

  16. Tara Rich says

I liked this page and would love to get a copy of that book! I have been getting inspiration and ideas from the the whole life nutrition for the past year or so!

  17. Erin in AK says

I have been a follower of yours for some time….I run a detoxing business and would love to share your recipes with my clients. Nourishing meals would be a nice addition to my already stock of books that I offer for loan or just to come in and read…..am sharing the info for my people to check it out !!!! Thank you for your time and the wonderful addition of a good cookbook in the world !!!! As well as help feed my family with nourishing meals…..

  19. Erin in AK says

Three months ago I learned the source of a number of personal health issues was an intolerance to dairy and wheat. While I’ve cooked for many dairy & wheat free friends, cooking EVERY meal for my family to accommodate those intolerances has been a real challenge. Their first cookbook has been a lifesaver and I presently consider it my kitchen bible.

I am so excited about Ali & Tom’s new cookbook! I work at Whole Foods Market and encounter people on a daily basis who struggle with food allergies and sensitivities and I wish we carried the book in our store (but it has to be available through Nutribooks for us to order it in). Anyhow, I have prepared a number of Ali & Tom’s recipes from their book and blog in my cooking classes and in-store cooking demos and am constantly recommending it as a resource. I am excited to get ahold of their new book to continue to share their amazing recipes and inspiration for healthy eating. I am also thrilled to learn of your blog (even though I live waaaay far away in Kansas!). I enjoy and appreciate good food blogs and I trust if Ali and Tom are linked up with you and your blog then the work you are doing must be great! Can’t wait to sink my teeth into more good food soon. Thank you for the inspiration!

As a ‘Megan’ who is from Alaska, I was thrilled to find your OWN website! I have been slowly going to a whole foods diet for the past 6 months, and have to say that I Love It! It is a ‘real’ way of eating that I can do for the rest of my life and I greatly appreciate the differences it has made in my life. The loss of the ‘midafternoon slump’ is one of them!

  24. lisa markley says

oh yeah, I liked you on FB, already liked Whole Life Nutrition, and shared your post about the giveaway. thanks!!!

  25. Gema says

Hi…I just “Liked” Allergy Free Alaska and I was already a fan of Whole Life Nutrition =)!! I LOVE to cook and any new gluten free recipes are soo needed and appreciated…this would be such an asset to my cook book collection. I truly believe that it is imperative that we all share and learn new recipes that help many with food allergies!! My daughter and I are gluten sensitive and it’s been a journey of self discovery.

  26. Sara says

Why I want to win this cookbook…. We have recently embarked on the journey of healing through food. Our 4th (of 5!) has seen some amazing healing of neurological symptoms after going gluten (mostly grain) free. It’s been a challenge to keep our new way of eating exciting and tasty while avoiding complaints from the brood. I am now a fan of both pages and have shared the giveaway as my Facebook status. Thank you for this opportunity :-)

  27. Deb says

Hi! I am 55 years old, and working hard to get my life in order. I have started an exercise regimen, I have cut processed foods out of my diet and I am working hard to eat healthy. I can assure you I would put this cookbook to good use. There is a huge learning curve involved in all of this but I am determined to be successful…thanks !

  28. Lisa Morris says

Was happy to share this on FB. Just liked Allergy Free Alaska, too! Thank you for such wonderful info. My family is not gluten free, but I LOVE their “The Whole Life Nutrition Cookbook.” It’s wonderful and I’m really looking forward to this new book!

  29. Angi says

I liked both pages on FB.
I am entering because I am currently seeing a naturopath and we are trying the elimination diet to determine food allergies. I became a vegan four months ago and since then have felt great – unless I eat bread or pasta. I have been noticing I almost pass out/fall asleep! So if it is the case that I need to be gluten free, this would really help me do that and cook for my family as well.

  30. says

I would love to win a copy of this cookbook because I am just starting my journey to health and I’m trying to get my hands on as many resources as I can to help me along the way. Our budget is super-tight leaving no room for books so a giveaway win would be a huge help!

  31. says

Hi! I Liked your page on FB and I’ve been a friend of Whole Life Nutrition’s FB for quite awhile. :)
I would LOVE a copy of Ali and Tom’s new book! We have their first one and absolutely love it. I was totally lost when I started my GF diet 1 1/2 yrs ago and their book completely saved me (and my family!). We have since become dairy free along with sugar free, too. I truly appreciate each and every recipe that Ali & Tom share with us! Thank you for offering this giveaway! :)

  32. says

Hi! I already liked Whole Life Nutrition and liked your page and shared the link. I am a newly practicing Naturopathic Doctor and recommend and personally use the first cookbook and nourishing meals website frequently for recipes for patients and myself and my partner. Would love a copy of the new one to continue to promote the healthy wholesome meals to all :)

  33. Nancy Burris says

Hello, I am not gluten free but I LOVE your first book and use it all the time…..the gluten free part
Is just a bonus for friends and family who may come over (for me) and a godsend for those people who are gluten free!! Best of all is that these recipes are delicious and really nutritious …..at least the ones in the first book….have been sharing the first one with family and friends at every opportunity!!!! Thanks much for this new book which I am betting also contains a wealth of information right along with healthy recipes!!! Thanks, Nancy

  34. Tracy C says

Liked both. I would love a copy as winter is coming and I won’t have access to summer’s bounty and I am in desperate need of ideas to nourish my family!

  35. Robin Predny says

I saw a link to your Facebook page in my newsfeed thanks to my subscription to Whole Life Nutrition. I am always excited to find new resources for healthy, plant based eating, and I love the “voice” you have on your blog, so I’ll be looking forward to exploring it more!

I would love to get a copy of the Whole Life cookbook. I have been eating a plant based diet for several months now, but feeding my husband and kids has been a challenge, and
I usually end up making two meals. I would love to use this cookbook to meld some our meals so we can all eat healthy and I can have more time to enjoy outside of the kitchen. I also love the idea of making my kids the treats they love, but in a healthier way!

  36. Erin L. says

I liked you both! i would love a copy because I know I need to try changing our families diet to help determine kids possible dairy and gluten allergies, but I really have no idea where to start! Maybe this recipe book will help me put together a monthly meal calendar to finally give it a try! Thanks for the opportunity to win a cookbook :)

  37. Toni says

Megan, I like both. Would love a copy! We are starting to totally change our eating. I am in constant pain & my hormones are all messed up. I am in need of a cookbook that is grain. & dairy free for the health of my family!

  38. Jenn says

I liked you both. And I would love the book because my family and I are trying new healthily recipes and would love nothing more than try your recipe book. Thank you so much for this opportunity! Cannot wait to see what I may be able to make me all of us! :-)

  39. Hillary Austin says

I would love to have a copy of this book; it looks beautiful, and would look be a great addition to our gluten-free cookbook collection.

  40. athena lyons says

I liked both. Our whole family has reflux and GI issues (3 colicky kids, dad and the most complicated, mom). We have to eat whole foods just to keep from being in pain. The bad thing about that, is most of my dishes have been plain or just barely flavored with salt. My daughter loves to cook but because of our restrictions, I hesitate. I have seen your recipes while researching GAPS and fell in LOVE. Our whole family would love to be able to eat safe food that tastes great and that have the capability of healing the root cause our our health troubles. Thanks for the chance!

  41. says

Liked and liked! I would love a copy because we are only beginning to change our eating patterns and a cookbook would keep me from running to the computer for ideas and tips all the time. Thank you!

  42. jessie burton says

Why i want this signed copy? My 9 year old son and I have been gluten and dairy free for a few months. It’s hard to find good recipes and people that inspire u, and hard for him to understand why we are doing this (both him and I went to naturepath and gluten and dairy are wrecking havoc on my body, and starting to on his) .This cookbook and these two fb pages inspire me to keep doing what we are doing. I would love this!

  43. Ivy says

I read about the giveaway on Facebook, as I’m a fan of Whole Life Nutrition already. I just “liked” you too! I shared it with all my Facebook friends as well. I am an avid reader of many blogs, especially those related to food/allergies. I have a lot of friends who have similar dietary restrictions as I do, and I would love to have a copy of this book around so that I could share the yummy creations with everyone.

  44. Lainie Bielau says

Liked and Shared! I would love a copy of this book because, the last year we found out my son has EE. Which is caused by several different food allergies he has. Needless to say, the last year has been very trying and our eating habits and diet has changed drastically! My sons diet is very limiting and I am definately in need of some more recipes that I can use! Thank you!

  45. Bethany says

I liked both on Facebook and shared the link on my page. I actually already pre-ordered my own book, but would love to give a copy to our pastor’s family. In the past year their family has been turned upside down by so many allergies with their two girls and I think this would be such a help for them.

  46. Jeanette Glidden says

I would absolutely love a copy of their new cookbook. I am a proud owner of their first cookbook, Whole Life Nutrition. I have post-its sticking all throughout that cookbook, marking all the recipes I have made and love. I actually first heard about the Vitamix blender through them and am now a proud owner of one of those also. I am actually sitting here sipping Toms Medicine Chest Smoothie. Love it! Since my family started following a healthy lifestyle of exercise and whole foods diet, with the help of Whole Life Nutritions cookbook and website and facebook page, my family has felt so much better and become more active. Thanks so much!

  47. says

The Nourishing Meals website and The Whole Life Nutrition Cookbook are my go-tos for healthful, dairy and gluten free recipes–love them both and have recommended them to many people! So I’m very excited about this new cookbook and can’t wait to try all the new recipes in it.

I truly believe that I have an intolerance for Gluten. I have been reading about it and I think thats why after certain meals, I get very bloated (sometimes it looks like I am about 7 months pregnant).
I would love to win this fabulous cookbook to improve my health and the health of my family.
Thanks for all the great information you shared!

  50. Jeni Stender says

I already love Whole Life Nutrition and just “liked” your site which looks really great too! I would love to win a copy of the new book to help me maintain my gluten and dairy free lifestyle. I am desperately trying to improve my arthritis using food as my medicine since I’ve had some really nasty side effects due to the drugs I’ve been on for over 20 years. The green smoothies alone have made a huge difference in how I feel, and I no longer dread facing each day due to pain and stiffness. I will definitely share your post on my facebook page since I want all my friends to be aware of the new book and to check out your page too! Thanks!

  51. Coleen says

Thankyou for this review of Nourishing Meals. Being new to having to eat Gluten free/dairy free/soy free/shellfish free has been difficult for me. So far I almost always have to adapt any recipe I find. I check your site daily and love it, thank you. I trust your recommendation that this cookbook will provide some good tasting recipes that I won’t have to adjust. Hope I win a copy of the cookbook. I went to both your facebook link and Whole Life Nutrition Kitchen’s face book link and liked them both.
Thanks for all you do and offering this chance to win the cookbook. Even if I don’t win it is #1 on my to buy wish list. Due to illness I no longer work and am hoping I can save up for this book soon.

I was the one that solved the puzzle by going gluten free and diary free. I would love to give this to her to help educate her. She has always been the best cook and always made food from scratch. I have The Whole Life Nutrition cookbook. It has helped guide me in the direction that I am in today.

  76. Loree Miles says

I “liked” Allergy Free Alaska and Whole Life Nutrition on face book. I would really like to get a copy of this cook book. I am always finding myself trying to make substitutions and adjust recipes to fit special food needs or to increase nutrition. This sounds like a great place to look for recipes that have already incorporated the changes I would want to make and that have been proven to work out. Much better than experimenting on my family until I can tweak a recipe into submission.

  77. Stacey says

I would love to win a copy of this cookbook! I use their original one all of the time as well as their website. Such yummy recipes – especially for those of us with multiple food sensitivities!

  78. says

I have already l iked both of you on faceook, but I would love this book becuase Eating healthy is so important, add in food allergies and it’s even more important since we loose some of the nutrients you get from foods that have to be eliminated. I am not an expert cook so having a book to guide me would be wonderful.

  79. says

I already like both you on facebook! I would love to win this book! Ali’s creativity and knowledge of nourishing foods has made me a frequent visitor of her site! The title and cover alone speak health so I know the inside is sure to impress!! I will share the giveaway on my FB page Kate’s Healthy Cupboard. Thanks for doing this!

  80. Brandee Simmang says

I “liked” you on Facebook. I already follow Whole Life Nutrition Kitchen on Facebook. I have the first cookbook, and I love it. So, I have been waiting anxiously for the release of the new one! AND, last but not least…..I shared the link to this giveaway on Facebook!!! Fingers Crossed!!! ;0)

I’ve done what you’ve asked, to qualify for the cookbook give-away offer that you’ve made, thank you for this opportunity.
Being challenged with new changes in my physical condition and health, I’ve made the decision to help myself, by learning to change my eating habits, and the food I eat. Your site has been helping me do this by making available the knowledge and recipes I need, to help me make these very necessary changes.
    Thank you so much!

  82. Beth Trizza says

I am already in like (love) with both of your sites. All of the recipes I’ve seen on both Allergy Free Alaska and Whole Life Nutrition have looked amazing! This cookbook sounds wonderful and I would love to get one in my kitchen and get started on all the fabulous recipes! Oh, and I did share this great giveaway on FB for all my friends to take advantage too. Thanks for all that you do and for this great opportunity.

  83. says

I would loooove an inspiring, whole food, gluten free cookbook! Just because. One must grab every chance to inspire and be inspired :D
    Liked, shared and everything. <3

  84. says

I would love a copy of Nourishing Meals because I have their first cookbook and have used it so much it’s starting to look pretty worn out. Also I have a 5 month old, and you mentioned that there are school lunch ideas and great kids meals. So I pretty much will be getting it if I win or not, but how awesome would it be if I got it for free!

  85. Tiffany Anderson says

I’m learning all sorts of new things in my attempts to improve my health. I so hope I win one of these cookbooks so I can really make some great meals and a serious change. Also, now that I liked both on FB hopefully I’ll get continual reminders to be healthy.

  86. says

I would love a copy of Nourshing meals because we are now doing the Elimination diet from their first book because my hubby has been sick and struggling with GI issues for a number of years and no one has been able to help. Tom and Ali have been a huge blessing to us indeed!!

  87. Pina says

Very interested in the giveaway. Changed my family’s diet, for our health reasons. Both my children love baking and discovering new and delicious recipes. Our meals and desserts are sooo much healthier and more delicious than baking with wheat/sugar. We are gluten free, dairy free, soy free, corn free, yeast free.
Even if I don’t win, I am happy that I found your facebook.

  88. April says

I’m a super health-conscious teenager who is always on the run (music student). I try to eat vegan and gluten free for the health benefits, and I have a feeling that a cookbook like this would save me so much time! I love cooking for my family (during the summer I am the chief cook and baker) but during the school year it is hard for me to get into the kitchen. Cookbooks like these would provide me with delicious quick recipes for meals that I can feel good eating and feeding to my family that I can make quickly without having to spend time searching the internet and sorting recipes for things that match my requirements! (Recipe/blog searching and health researching are my guilty pleasures…)

  89. Nan says

I’ve had “Nourishing Meals” on my birthday wish list ever since I found out about it, but sadly no one bought it for me. :-( I’m gluten-free to help my Hashimoto’s thyroiditis and do my best to cook real and whole healthy food for my family. I have 2 young daughters who are picky eaters and am always looking for new healthy & tasty kid-friendly recipes. Thanks for giving us an opportunity to win a copy of this cookbook! I am also glad that this cookbook has introduced me to your website, I can’t believe I didn’t know about you as we live in Ester, AK. Looking forward to reading more of your recipes too!

  90. Gabby Peterson says

I have liked both pages! : ) I would love a new cook book that I could find some great recipes without eggs and new ideas to try.

  91. Debbi M. says

Liked both pages on FB and sharing it on FB and Twitter too. I’d love to win a copy of this cookbook as I’m learning that eating wheat has been making me feel sick. I just want to feel better already and love life the way it ought to be instead of always feeling ill. Thank you (and the author) for this opportunity to enter to win!

  92. Sandra Smith says

Like and love both pages on FB! Thanks for sharing great recipes and so excited about the new Whole Life cookbook. I’ve been 99.9% migraine free since my Whole Life detox about a year ago, and this is the first year of my adult life that I didn’t even notice the ragweed. So grateful for building a healthy life!

  93. Denise Burgess says

So excited about this cookbook giveaway! I’ve been a fan of yours and Whole Life Nutrition for quite some time. So, “liked” I have and I’ve “shared” it too. :)

I’m an Alaskan girl living in Texas and I’ve been on a GF journey for years. My son was diagnosed with severe food allergies when he was an infant, twelve years ago. Since then he’s outgrown most all of them, but his gluten and peanut allergy remains. Finding healthy and safe alternatives in the beginning was trying to say the least, so I experimented with recipes at home and clinged to every GF and allergy-friendly cookbook I could find.

Since then, my cookbook collection has multiplied times ten, haha! I don’t know about everyone else, but i actually read cookbooks, cover to cover. :) The advances that have taken place in the GF world over the last 10+ years is remarkable! This cookbook would be a welcomed addition to my ever growing collection and I can’t wait to start trying the delicious looking recipes.

  94. Claudia says

    Hi,
I just found your GF page and love it!! I’m newly assigned to the gluten free family and doing most of it from bogs. The cookbook looks like a fabulous resource for all the years ahead of me. Thanks for sharing so much with your blog and FB.! I’ll go share your Give-away now. <3

  95. Rochelle says

I would love to have this cookbook. We’ve been on the GAPS diet as one of my children has had some digestive and behavoiral issues and I’m always looking for good resources for tasty food.

  96. JoLi says

Already liked your page, and now Whole Life Nutrition! This is a beautiful looking cookbook. I have lots of cookbooks, but most are just read and sit on a shelf somewhere in the house or garage. This looks like a cookbook that would actually be used. I also teach classes on gluten free foods and this looks like a good one to recommend to the newly diagnosed. This looks like a cookbook that would get the coveted spot in the kitchen!

  97. says

Hi. Nice syncronizing, Whole Life and Allergy Free Alaska. I promise you she will spread the news of your great cookbook! Namaste’

  98. Ruth Jones says

Left a comment and did others also. I want to thank you for the chance at winning a great book like this. I am really interested in it because I have just started a gluten-free diet and Vegan of coarse. My health has made me sit back and take a look at what I’ve been eating. I’d like a copy of this book because it would help me know what to fix or let me see many options as I am just learning the gluten-free part. I’ve loved vegan for awhile. Thanks again!

  99. Margie Buchwalter says

Liked everyone and shared the page. I would love a copy of this book as we are seniors and are so trying to get back to a much healthier way of eating. I have some health issues that as I read, I know this book would help calm the storm. We lived in Alaska for 14 years and just recently moved back to Ohio for many different reasons. They are so tuned into eating well.

  102. says

I would LOVE a copy of “Nourishing Meals” as I am attempting to cook gluten, soy, dairy free, as well as peanuts, nuts and legumes. It’s one thing to cook for yourself, but another to make appealing meals for others and dinner parties. =)

  103. Karen Carlo says

I would love a book of such great allergy friendly recipes. My little guy has to avoid wheat, milk, egg, nut, and fish because of eosinophilc esophagitis and my little girl has wheat, milk, and nut allergy. I have learned a lot but love already tested allergy-friendly recipes because too many substitutes and either it won’t work or it hardly resembles what you intended.

  104. Mercedes says

We just recently went gluten free and dairy free (in addition to the nut, shellfish, sesame and mustard allergies that we had already been managing) so any new ideas to help me keep balanced meals (and yummy!) would be great!!!

  109. says

I have liked & reposted on Facebook with pleasure!! I would love a copy of this cookbook, as my oldest daughter & her two sons (1yr & 4yrs) were recently diagnosed with Celiac Disease. I have tried to go Gluten Free for sometime, but the recipes in the cookbooks I have, usually don’t seem to turn out or are not very appetizing. I need some recipes that are “small children” friendly as well as “grandma friendly” while I’m looking after the children. If it’s on your counter, It’s a must have for mine!

  110. Katherine says

  117. Sarah says

I would LOVE a copy of this cookbook! My husband and three kids all suffer from food intolerances – gluten, dairy and soy among them. My repetoire of dinners and lunches is tired and so am I. Love love love The Whole Life Nutrition Cookbook and blog. As a student of naturopathic medicine, and someone with many food sensitivities, I have been trying to eat as healthfully and mindfully as possible but this isn’t the easiest when in medical school. Ali and Tom have really helped me to cook healthy and delicious foods for myself and partner on a time constraint and I am super grateful to them for that. I have cooked my way through most of this fabulous cookbook (Whole Life Nutrition) and would absolutely love a copy of Nourishing Meals! I am excited to begin exploring your site as well.
I liked both sites and shared this page. Cheers!

Their FIRST book was just WONDERFUL. If you have been following their blog– you know this is another GREAT book.. a continuation of the first.. Check out their blog to get the idea. I would LOVE to win this book, if I may!! Crossing my fingers…..

  125. says

What a wonderful idea for a giveaway! I found you because Ali et al linked to you. After reading your post I quickly liked your facebook page so that I can keep up…I was already subscribed to theirs. As for why I’d love a copy: This summer, my husband and I started the elimination diet, only to find that we both have dairy and gluten allergies/sensitivities. We’ve been adapting our whole lives around this change, but find the switch to be an expensive one, as we’ve both been unemployed students for quite some time now. As much as we love the recipes from the original cookbook, it will be a true delight to increase our variety. Either way, we’ll be picking up a copy, as it’s well worth it. But it never hurts to enter into a contest to get such a treasure for free. I wish you well, and hope your daughter continues to enjoy the gustatory delights! Meanwhile, I’m off to link this page. :-)

  126. mountainmeli says

I liked both sites on fb and shared this link on my page as well. I have been trying so many of their recipes posted on fb and my kids love them. My son is allergic to peanuts, tree nuts, eggs, and sesame seeds and we recently discovered that he also has an intolerance to Gluten. So, cooking for him has become quite tricky and I very much value recipes that are healthy, allergen-free, delicious, and easy. I would LOVE to win this cookbook!

  127. Janet says

I saw this post when it when up but I just ran across their website – I hope people check it out as it offers a wealth of information and ideas! Went straight to bookmark.

In our house the person who use to wear the crown of the COOKERY KINGDOM, was my sister. Since she passed away and my Mum came to live with me, to my surprise I started to develop a taste and flair for cooking. Recently, I have found out that both of us are allergic to gluten … so you can imagine how precious it would be for us, to receive a signed copy of NOURISHING MEALS !! It would be a positive incentive to try up new healthy nourishing recipes and invite friends to join us for a delicious meal, taking them down the yellow brick road towards a Gluten Free Banquet !!!

Dear Megan I already receive Whole Life Nutrition on my feed, and just now I have visited and “LIKE” the Allergy Free Alaska! I have also shared your page with a friend from Facebook who is also allergic to Gluten.

Hi Shirley! I just love Ali & Tom…they rank right up there with you & Karina in my kitchen & my life. I work with Special Needs adults in a day program (we do baking & cooking) & I also teach a cooking class to them. We have many dietary restrictions (some people call it that…I now call it “freedom”!). I would just love a copy of Nourishing Meals. I’ve been trying to keep the food that we prepare healthy, tasty & interesting to the people we support…it can be challenging to please everyone & I’m still learning myself about GF, SCD, LF, raw, etc etc
Thanks so much to you & Ali & Tom for the wonderful giveaway. If it weren’t for people like you 3, our meals & lives would be just fuel & terribly confusing. Thank you for making things tasty & fun!
